Australian Cricket Team Bus Attacked in Guwahati

Rocks were thrown at the bus carrying the Australian cricket team which spread fear among the players.

The Guwahati city was put to shame on Tuesday evening after the bus of the Australian cricket team, who were returning to hotel after clinching victory over India in second T20, was attacked by unidentified miscreants on National Highway-37 near Barsapara Stadium.

Rocks were thrown at the bus carrying the Australian cricket team which spread fear among the players. The players were heading back in the bus to Radison Blu Hotel near Jalukbari area in Guwahati.

Opener Aaron Finch tweeted out an image showing a broken window in the bus. "Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!," said Finch in his tweet.

The BCCI, ICC or Cricket Australia are yet to respond to the incident. Australian captain David Warner later retweeted Finch while Glenn Maxwell liked the post, The Indian Express reported.

Australia had recorded a comprehensive eight-wicket win over India in the match. It marked the end of an eight-match winning streak for India in T20Is against the Australians, the report said.

This match was also the first international fixture to be held at Guwahati's Barsapara stadium and the first international cricket match in the city in seven years.

The loss is a rare one for India in 2017, especially against Australia. India had managed a 2-1 win in the Test series that the two sides played earlier in the year. They then defeated Australian 4-1 in the ODI series that preceded the ongoing T20I rubber.

The Australian cricket team had faced similar attack on September 5 at Chittagong in Bangladesh as well.

The bus carrying the Australian cricket team, who were returning to the hotel after Day 1 of the second Test against Bangladesh cricket team in Chittagong, was hit by a small rock.
